Arena Technik enters buy-out agreement for Gameplay

LONDON—Gaming company Arena Technik Ltd. announced a buy-out agreement with Gameplay plc, under which it acquired all technology assets and software associated with gaming service Wireplay.
Arenatek executives plan to offer cross-platform gaming services to content owners and wireless carriers. The company said its service operates in a channel-based structure that targets player communities, and it will work across consoles, Interactive TVs, PCs, mobile devices and wireless PDAs.
“The potential for customer retention, traffic and revenue generation will make the Arenatek proposition very attractive for a number of major players, including telcos, cable companies, ISPs, console manufacturers and game publishers,” said Arenatek founder Tim Gummer. “Companies looking to expand their consumer base will be able to use our white-label offering to deliver world-class gaming services without relying on their internal resources or huge investment in technology development to attract and grow cross-platform communities.”
