LA JOLLA, Calif.—Bitfone Corp. released the company’s flagship product, iBroker, in an effort to tap into the growing multimedia messaging market.
Bitfone said its product allows users to send multimedia content using pictures and animations stored on a carrier’s database, or users can wirelessly access their own home desktop computer and send JPEG files stored there. Bitfone’s iBroker translates large JPEG pictures into smaller images viewable on mobile devices. Users can also store images they receive for later viewing, and even lift and send images from wireless Web sites.
The company joins a small but rapidly growing crew of companies looking to take advantage of multimedia messaging. Comverse announced an MMS deal with Europolitan Vodafone and Openwave said it is planning to offer multimedia messaging services as part of its unified communications offering.
