SEATTLE-Terabeam was chosen by Microsoft Corp. to connect the company to the Internet for its annual employee meeting, which took place at Safeco Field in Seattle in late August.
Terabeam directs an invisible beam of light through the air to provide high bandwidth connectivity without wires. With the technology, Microsoft was able to display product demonstrations on two 30-by-40 foot projection screens to more than 16,000 Puget Sound area employees.
Terabeam has metropolitan area networks in Seattle and Denver and recently announced plans to launch a network in Dallas later this year.
