Avesair Inc. may be just shy of its first birthday, but its proven technology has years behind it and its executives are industry veterans.
In fact, the expertise and experience behind the company and its founders are exactly what led to $16 million in venture funding from Nokia Venture Partners and New Thing Ventures last October.
When Nokia Venture Partners came to Engage, an online media company, in search of a private company that could bring mobile marketing to mobile operators, Kimo Kong and several other Engage executives decided to take a risk. Together, they formed Avesair, a company that now focuses solely on delivering mobile marketing technology and services to mobile operators and networks.
The roots of Avesair’s flagship technology, MATCH (messaging and targeting for carriers and handsets), can be traced back to 1996, when Accipiter, the company that created Engage, originally developed the technology as AdManager, according to Kong.
MATCH allows mobile operators to “selude senior-level positions with Oracle Corp. and British Telecommunications plc. “My goal is to provide Avesair with a vision for the future as we continue to grow and enhance our product offerings, providing operators everywhere with the best possible solutions to help them attract and retain subscribers,” Connon said upon joining the company.
In addition, the company is striving to expand globally. Headquartered in the United States, Avesair also has offices in Japan, Singapore, Korea and the United Kingdom, from which it targets customers, mainly global carriers and MVNOs, located throughout Asia, Europe, Latin America and North America.
Avesair recently announced that Nokia has agreed to integrate MATCH as the Nokia mPlatform Advertising Solution component. In addition, the company told RCR Wireless News that more contracts with carriers and service providers as well as distribution deals for MATCH are in the works.
