LONDON—British Telecommunications plc and Deutsche Telekom finalized their third-generation network sharing agreement, first announced in June, for their respective mobile subsidiaries in the United Kingdom and Germany. The agreement is expected to deliver up to a 30-percent cost savings during 10 years to BT on capital expenditure relating to its 3G network buildout, the company said.
“We are now in a position to move into the implementation phase and focus on driving forward our 3G network rollout plans in Germany and the United Kingdom,” said Peter Erskine, chief executive officer of BT’s mobile subsidiary mmO2.
A similar sharing agreement has since been announced between German carriers E-Plus and Group 3G.
