LONDON—According to a recent Frost & Sullivan study, the pending introduction of General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) may change mobile data access, especially among enterprises.
According to Ben Connelly, a research analyst at Frost & Sullivan, many carriers are increasingly focusing on reducing subscriber churn and on keeping high-value customers. “As a result, many operators concentrate on the corporate world, owing to the higher average revenue per user (ARPU) and the lower levels of churn displayed,” he explained. “This is underpinned by the step-change GPRS is believed to bring about, enabling a far greater range of improved quality data services.”
Frost & Sullivan also warned, however, that to attract enterprise customers, strategic partnerships with enterprise software companies like Microsoft, Oracle, Siebel and SAP will be necessary.
