LONDON—The Tunisian Telecommunications Ministry announced it will restart its abandoned attempt to tender a second GSM license. The license is due to be issued before the end of the year.
The ministry said it had dropped the tender because it was not satisfied with the US$381 million offered by the highest bidder. “We are working on a package of specifications to relaunch the GSM tender,” Telecommunications Minister Ahmed Friaa told reporters.
He said the ministry would modify some of the requirements in the previous tender criteria package in light of observations made by bidders during the failed attempt two months ago. He gave no further details about what criteria would be changed.
