HONG KONG—A report from Pyramid Research stated that the market for wireless equipment in Asia will decrease by US$2 billion during the next few years. The current US$4 billion market, motivated by increasing subscriber bases and new technology deployment, will decrease substantially in many markets.
Pyramid said equipment vendors can succeed during the downturn by focusing on markets with continued growth and spending. “Thailand will be a key regional market with 14 million new subscribers and several new networks,” said John Barrett, Pyramid Research analyst. “Robust subscriber growth in the Philippines will make it an important market as well.”
