SAN SALVADOR, EL SALVADOR—Wireless carrier Digicel signed an agreement with Velocitel to develop its GSM network in El Salvador.
The “build-to-suit” lease arrangement will allow Velocitel to invest in transmission sites that provide market potential and strategic value to Digicel for extending coverage. Digicel will become a co-leaser under the plan. The sites and their towers will first be used by Digicel for its mobile network, but will have the capacity to accommodate other wireless operators.
