Lucent appoints Bell Labs president

MURRAY HILL, N.J.—Lucent Technologies Inc. said it has appointed Bill O’Shea as president of Bell Labs and chief technology officer.

He replaced Arun Netravvali, who will become its chief scientist “to identify new technologies that would benefit the company,” according to Lucent.
