China Mobile (HK) to issue quarterly results

BEIJING—In accordance with international practice, China Mobile (HK) is to issue quarterly reports in an effort to further improve its transparency. Up to now, the company only reported to stockholders on a six-monthly and yearly basis.

Total revenue for an incomplete third quarter from 30 June to 20 September was HK$67.95 billion (US$8.71 billion).

The number of subscribers increased from 58.91 million to 63.77 million, but the average revenue per user (ARPU) fell 6 yuan (US$0.73) to 152 yuan (US$18.39), and call time per user per month slipped from 249 minutes to 240 minutes.

Network capacity increased in the period from 72.54 million to 80.34 million.

China Mobile (HK) had 38,543 employees on 20 September.

Together with parent company China Mobile Communications, the total number of mobile-phone subscribers is 97.4 million.
