SUNNYVALE, Calif.—The Federal Communications Commission granted BeamReach Networks an experimental nationwide license in the 2.3 GHz band, allowing the company to operate trials of its Adaptive MultiBeam orthogonal frequency division multiplexing broadband wireless access system, BeamReach announced.
BeamReach said while it is targeting all frequencies below 6 GHz, including the 2.5 GHz multichannel multipoint distribution system and 3.5 GHz frequencies, it wants to demonstrate its technology’s capabilities in the narrow 2.3 GHz band.
“We believe our technology has the ability to jumpstart the industry,” said Bob Kelsch, chief executive officer of BeamReach.
Adaptive MultiBeam OFDM is non-line-of-sight, offers user-installable customer premises equipment and can be deployed in large cells, the company said.
