MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.—The WAP Forum, which works to foster the growth of the Wireless Application Protocol standard, named Robert L. Brown, the former chairman of the GSM Association North American Interest Group, as the forum’s new chief executive officer.

As CEO, Brown will provide worldwide oversight and executive management of the WAP Forum. He replaces Scott Goldman, who moved to head up location-services and platform provider Go2.
