MURRAY HILL, N.J.—Lucent Technologies Inc. said it has decided to migrate straight to third-generation technology and skip 2.5 generation in its CDMA offerings.
“We believe that the future of wireless, specifically third-generation, is high-speed data and that the best way to get to high-speed data, the only economical way, is through spread spectrum, cdma2000 and UMTS,” said Mike Iandolo, vice president of product management and marketing for Lucent mobility solutions group.
