SAN DIEGO-Qualcomm Inc. announced it has successfully demonstrated a wireless voice call via a third-generation UMTS-compliant handset equipped with Qualcomm CDMA Technologies’ MSM5200 Mobile Station Modem W-CDMA chipset and system software.
“This demonstration of a public wireless voice call on a UMTS-compliant handset, powered by QCT’s W-CDMA chipset, illustrates our continuing commitment to the European marketplace and our ability to provide the solutions needed to produce 3G UMTS-compliant handsets that are feature-rich, as well as small,” explained Don Schrock, president of Qualcomm CDMA Technologies. “The delivery of the MSM5200 chipset and system software solution to handset manufacturers, timed to coincide with manufacturers’ requirements, and the interoperability testing we have been performing with European infrastructure vendors show we are continuing to meet our announced project milestones.”
