SAN FRANCISCO-Telephia Inc. will acquire Mspect and add the company’s short messaging service QoS monitoring capabilities to the Telephia Wireless Data Network and Application Performance (Wireless DNA Performance) service, which helps carriers measure and improve the speed and reliability of data services.
Wireless DNA Performance already monitors wireless data applications, including WAP browsing performance, on several major wireless carrier networks. With the acquisition of Mspect, which currently monitors SMS delivery success rates and latencies on six U.S. and four German wireless networks, Telephia’s system will also record SMS delivery statistics.
According to Telephia, the system monitors CDMA, iDEN and GPRS technology-based networks and plans are in the works for it to also monitor 1xRTT networks.
