ATLANTA—Cingular Wireless unveiled Voice Connect, the carrier’s first voice portal product, allowing customers to speak a name or phone number to make a phone call or access information services such as stock quotes and sports.
Cingular said the service, based on BeVocal’s software and hosting services, will initially be rolled out in Georgia, North and South Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky, Florida, Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana with plans to expand availability nationwide over time.
Customers activating the service will get the first 60 days of service free, with monthly service charges thereafter beginning at $5 per month.
