TOKYO—Matsushita Electric Industrial Co. Ltd. said that 10,000 of its workers have applied for early retirement because the company plans to do away with guaranteed lifetime employment.
The applicants, who amount to 10 percent of the staff, had until November 30 to apply when the guaranteed employment scheme came to an end.
