SEATTLE and LOS ANGELES—The amount of wireless Internet content continues to move ahead at Warp speed, as two companies announced major new releases.
First, Jamdat Mobile Inc. announced the release of Gladiator II: Quest for Freedom, the sequel to perhaps the industry’s most popular wireless game, Gladiator. Almost 1.1 million users have played Jamdat’s Gladiator, driving 15 million minutes of usage, the company said. The game’s sequel features new graphics and play options.
Separately, Versaly Games Inc. announced it obtained a license from Viacom Consumer Products to offer ring tones, images, sounds and other entertainment content based on the popular Star Trek franchise.
“Versaly was chosen for the Star Trek license in great part for their forward-thinking strategy in the wireless arena,” said Andrea Hein, Viacom’s consumer products president.
