TORONTO—Telus Mobility, a unit of Telus Corporation, is targeting revenue of between C$2.1 billion (US$1.3 billion) and C$2.15 billion (US$1.4 billion) in 2002, up from an estimated C$1.9 billion (US$1.2 billion) in 2001.
Wireless operating earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) is expected to increase by 32 percent to 38 percent, reaching C$450 million (US$284 million) to $470 million (US$297 million) for 2002 compared with $340 million (US$214 million) for 2001.
The carrier estimates it will gain between 425,000 and 450,000 wireless customers in 2002.
It is also forecasting wireless capital expenditures to be approximately C$560 million (US$354 million) in 2002. The total Telus workforce will remain at about 30,000 through the year, with staff additions in growth areas such as data and wireless communications offsetting any cuts in mature business lines.
Telus Corporation expects a net loss of about C$520 million (US$328 million) in 2002.
