Swedish companies to provide public WLAN service in Germany

STOCKHOLM, Sweden—Swedish service provider iobox launched Germany’s first public wireless location arena network system at the Kempinski Vier Jahreszeiten Hotel in Munich using equipment from Swedish vendor Service Factory.

Iobox said it plans to establish additional WLAN hot spots in hotels, airports and conference halls throughout Germany. The technology will enable business travelers with Windows laptops or personal digital assistants and WLAN cards to access the Internet, e-mail, and corporate networks and intranets with transmission speeds at 11 Megabits per second.
