BANGALORE, India—PrairieComm Inc., a software supplier to mobile handset makers, has launched a software center in India in which it plans to invest up to $10 million in three years.
Other Bangalore-based software service companies have recently pulled away from the telecom software field citing severe financial pressure on telecom equipment makers. John Diehl, chief executive officer of PrairieComm, said his company can take advantage of this by focusing on providing cost-effective products.
“We would be opportunistic and take advantage of the change in the talent market,” he said at a recent conference announcing the new center.
The company, in which Lucent Technologies Inc. is an investor, plans to increase the center’s staff, currently 20 engineers, to 50 by the end of the year.
