TOKYO—NEC. Corp. reported a net loss of $2.26 billion, blaming softening demand for its telecommunications gear.
The company also announced plans to cut 14,000 jobs, including 8,000 in Japan.
“These are not circumstances that would allow us to draw up business plans that presume growth,” said NEC senior managing director Shiqeo Matsumoto.
