SAN DIEGO—Qualcomm Inc. said it has developed a multimode global positioning system processor and system software, the MGP6200, which supports the Third Generation Partnership Project Frequency Division Duplex mode for wideband CDMA, GSM and GPRS technologies.
“Location services represent a rapidly expanding market, and the MGP6200 solution will enable handset manufacturers to roll out early devices for use in UMTS/GSM/GPRS systems that can support just about any location-based application, then move to our more integrated solutions as the market matures,” said Don Shrock, president of Qualcomm CDMA Technologies.
