Conexant modules chosen for China Unicom CDMA network

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif.—Conexant Systems Inc. announced its CDMA power amplifier modules (PAMs) have been chosen by several handset manufacturers for use on China Unicom’s nationwide CDMA cellular network.

Seventy percent of handset manufacturers in China chose Conexant’s PAMs to operate on china Unicom’s network which is expected to support 15 million subscribers by the end of this year and 50 million by 2005.

“It is an honor to have earned the distinction of being the primary supplier of CDMA power amplifier modules for the launch of the China’s nationwide CDMA network,” said Moiz Beguwala, senior vice president and general manager of Conexant’s wireless communications division.
