Five new mobile health lawsuits filed

BALTIMORE—Five new lawsuits seeking a total of more than $6 billion in damages have been filed against the cellular industry, alleging use of wireless handsets caused brain cancer.

The lawsuits were filed Monday afternoon in the Superior Court for the District of Columbia by the Suder Law Firm, Morganroth and Morganroth and Sheldon Miller. The same group of attorneys last year filed a $1.5 billion phone-brain cancer lawsuit on behalf of former Motorola Inc. technician Michael Murray.

Meanwhile, a Baltimore Federal Court continues to hear scientific testimony in an $800 million cell phone-cancer lawsuit filed by the law firm of high-profile trial attorney Peter Angelos on behalf of 42-year old neurologist Christopher Newman. Newman was present at the start of the week-long hearing.
