WASHINGTON—The Cellular Telecommunications & Internet Association held the first meeting of its Wireless Internet Caucus Leadership Council last week.
The council said it will address hurdles facing the U.S. market in wireless data and mobile Internet products and services. In its first day-long workshop, the group agreed to address the following issues: authorization, access and authentication for new services; messaging services interoperability; downloading Internet content from third-party sources; location and presence information; enterprise; billing; security and privacy.
“Working together, this leadership team has both the vision and the authority to make the decisions needed to propel this industry forward into the next wave of wireless,” said Tom Wheeler, president and chief executive officer of CTIA.
