AIS to spend US$64 million on customer care

NEW DELHI, India—Thailand’s largest mobile operator, Advanced Info Service (AIS), plans to invest 2.8 billion baht (US$64 million) for the installation of a smart customer care and billing system over the next two years.

The company has hired U.K.-based firm Chorleywood for the project, said Apathra Slingkarinkul, AIS assistant vice president, in an interview with Bangkok-based Telecom Journal. The cost includes hardware and software systems, along with maintenance.

The AIS official said that in the first phase, the project will be able to strengthen the company’s rating and promotion strategies. In the second phase, the focus will be on corporate consumer service, while marketing channels and sales planning will be the focus in the third phase. He said the project will be able to support at least 6 million postpaid subscribers for the billing system.
