BEIJING—Nokia Corp. and Texas Instruments, as well as 15 other Chinese and foreign companies have created a consortium to be known as Commit Inc., which will develop semiconductors, software and multimedia products.
The initial investment in the company will be $28 million.
“Functions such as Internet surfing, mobile communications, mobile offices and video processing will be expected on a single terminal, such as a PDA (personal digital assistant) or even an MP3 player,” said the consortium in a statement.
