Lucent introduces two cdma2000 base station systems

MURRAY HILL, N.J.—Lucent technologies Inc. said it has introduced two cdma2000 base station systems to enable operators to increase capacity.

Verizon Wireless is the first carrier to deploy the product, which is part of Lucent’s Flexent OneBTS base station portfolio for third-generation wireless networks, according to the company.

“This base station platform can incorporate power distribution and battery back-up within the base station, reducing the size of the cell site equipment footprint by 33 percent and can grow to support more radio-frequency carriers, increasing capacity for mobile operators,” said the company in a statement.

The company also introduced the Flexent CDMA high-density 3.0 base station for mobile operators with Lucent AUTOPLEX series 11 cellular base stations.
