TOKYO—NTT DoCoMo Inc. launched its FOMA mobile communications platform enabling numerous people to participate in a mobile video conference.
If four people or less are involved in a video conference, the platform, which is designed to work with the carrier’s wireless video phones, allows the handsets video screen to split into four windows to show each person simultaneously. The user can also switch to a full-screen display of each person as they speak.
A DoCoMo-led consortium is expected to begin conducting field trials of the platform in May.
