MADISON, Wis.—Rayovac Corp. announced the development of the Rayovac I-C3 (In-Cell Charge Control), a rechargeable battery with built-in charging control.
According to Rayovac, advantages of the I-C3 are: it takes 15 minutes or less to charge; it is four times longer lasting than alkaline; it can be recharged up to 1,000 times; and it is designed for safety.
Rayovac said the new battery will be usable in wireless electronic devices, including digital cameras, MP3 players and cellular phones. The company also said it will introduce retail products mid-to-late 2003 and is currently evaluating major OEMs as possible for strategic partners.
