i3Mobile hires promotion company for Pronto service

NEW YORK—i3Mobile Inc., a Stamford, Conn., provider of premium wireless content, hired the Draftworldwide advertising agency to promote its new Pronto service offering voice-activated information retrieval over a variety of mobile phones and calling plans.

Round-the-clock, Pronto subscribers will be able to ask for and receive a variety of information, including stock quotes, weather reports, driving directions, airline schedules, sports scores, movie schedules and Zagat restaurant reviews.

Late last year, i3Mobile completed a consumer trial of Pronto in the Hartford, Conn., area. In February, i3Mobile announced an agreement to distribute Pronto through Wireless Zone, which has 150 stores in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions and is the largest independent retailer of Verizon Wireless services. Terra Lycos, an Internet services company, also has signed a marketing agreement with i3Mobile for Pronto.

“We’ve accelerated our national launch plans for Pronto and will market the product directly to consumers and businesses, via distribution agreements with online partners, (by) in-store retail presence, through our own sales force and (through) anticipated relationships with national wireless carriers,” John A. Lack, president and chief executive officer, said earlier this year.
