HELSINKI, Finland—Nokia Corp. said it signed a GSM expansion agreement with Chinese mobile operator Zhejiang Mobile Communications Corp., as well as equipment for trials of it multimedia messaging system and micro-payment technology.
The value of the deal is estimated at more than $85 million. Deliveries have already begun.
Under the agreement, Nokia will upgrade Zhejiang MCC’s switching equipment and radio-access infrastructure as part of the network expansion. Nokia will simultaneously supply trial systems for both MMS and micro-payment services.
