XtremeSpectrum encourages global UWB rules

VIENNA, Va.—XtremeSpectrum announced it plans to begin working toward the global adoption of ultra-wideband rules.

To further its initiative, the company appointed Veronica “Roni” Haggart to the newly created position of vice president of strategic relations. In addition to managing regulatory, public affairs and standards activities in the United States, Haggart will be responsible for regulatory and public affairs strategies in Japan, Asia, Europe and the Americas and will oversee Xtreme’s involvement with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).

“Since the FCC’s initial approval of ultra-wideband in February, we are seeing tremendous interest internationally in ultra-wideband’s unique wireless capabilities,” said Martin Rofheart, Xtreme’s chief executive officer. “Many companies in Japan and Asia, for consumer electronics applications, and throughout Europe, where many of the world’s largest cell phone manufacturers are located, are interested in deploying ultra-wideband, but they need regulatory approval for its use.”

Rofheart added that he believes Haggart can offer the guidance and expertise necessary to work with regulatory agencies and ultra-wideband partner companies to make global adoption of ultra-wideband rules a reality.
