Vocera raises $12M

CUPERTINO, Calif.—Vocera Communications Inc. announced it has raised $12 million in its third round of funding.
Venrock Associates led the funding, with RRE Ventures, Vanguard Ventures, Avalon Ventures and IDEO also participating.

“Given the current investment climate, this round of funding signals high confidence in our company from the investment community,” said Julie Shimer, chief executive officer of Vocera. “The additional funds will be used to complete product development and grow the organization.”

The funding follows Vocera’s recent announcement it is developing the Vocera Communications System, a wireless platform that provides hands-free, voice-activated communications in 802.11b-networked buildings or campuses.
