MTN Nigeria cuts international call costs

JOHANNESBURG, South Africa—MTN Nigeria announced it has sliced tariffs for international calls for all the network’s subscriber packages, including prepaid products.

Mike Blackburn MTN chief executive officer, said the international offer gives network customers the opportunity to make calls to international destinations at half the normal rates and does not bear any time constraints. Blackburn added that within a day of the announcement the network had experienced more than double its daily international traffic load.

Calls to Europe, North America and South Africa have been cut by half. However, calls to East Africa, most notably Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania, remain unchanged.
