LAS VEGAS—Symbol Technologies announced plans to license and integrate the Columbitech Wireless virtual private network into its wireless network management platform and new MobiusGuard suite of wireless security mechanisms to create AirBEAM Safe, a new product that will secure wireless local area networks and wide area networks.
“Columbitech’s technology platform enables us to offer additional security options for mobility that combines state-of-the-art security with unique user convenience through always-on connectivity and seamless network roaming,” explained Steve Mathers, vice president of marketing of the integrated services division for Symbol. “This product adds VPN tunneling to Symbol’s suite of wireless security mechanisms, giving customers several security options to chose from, depending on their specific application requirement and wireless LAN environment.”
