SAN DIEGO—Qualcomm Inc. announced the availability of its three new security enhancements for the OmniTRACS mobile communications system: Driver Authentication, Wireless Panic button and Tamper Detection.
Qualcomm said tank truck company Superior Carriers Inc. is implementing the new features immediately.
“As a company that already uses Qualcomm’s OmniTRACS system to monitor the hauling of hazardous materials under the Defense Transportation Tracking System (DTTS), we are eager to implement enhanced security features in our fleet,” said Bill O’Donnell, senior vice president of Superior Carriers. “Qualcomm’s decision to bring these features to the transportation industry enables customers to leverage their existing investment while making sure their fleets securely travel the nation’s highways.”
