PARIS—Alcatel Alsthom has signed a $125 million contract to supply Tunisian carrier Orascom Telecom with GSM gear for voice and data services.
The deal, which will last for five years, targets 3 million mobile subscribers.
Orascom Telecom said earlier this week it finally received the concession agreement for the second Tunisian GSM license from the government. Orascom’s first payment of $227 million for the license was deposited prior to the agreement.
Orascom said the capital of its Tunisian subsidiary, Orascom Telecom Tunisia, is expected to increase by $23 million to reach $250 million before the end of the year.
Orascom Telecom won the license tender in March after presenting the highest offer of $454 million.
