MUNICH, Germany—Siemens said it will supply GSM technology to Belize Telecommunications Ltd. under a $12.9 million contract.
Siemens Netherlands will supply and install all the radio and switching technology for the national GSM/GPRS network. The network should be operational in mid-2002.
BTL currently operates an AMPS network. Siemens said BTL is one of the first Central American operators to migrate to GSM technology.
