WASHINGTON—The numbering crisis is over, said Michael Altschul, senior vice president and general counsel for the Cellular Telecommunications & Internet Association.
“The whole numbering crisis seems to be over. … The exhaust of the North American numbering plan will now be some other generation’s problem, not our problem,” said Altschul.
Altschul made this declaration at CTIA’s critical issues forum on wireless number portability. He said the collapse of the competitive local exchange carrier industry is the main reason for more numbers being available for a longer period of time.
