Verizon signs roaming deal with SK Telecom

BEDMINSTER, N.J.—Verizon Wireless reported a reciprocal roaming agreement with South Korean wireless operator SK Telecom allowing customers to use the same handset and phone number when on each carriers network. The agreement is scheduled to begin prior to the upcoming 2002 FIFA World Cup soccer tournament being held in South Korean beginning May 31.

The Korean government estimates 600,000 Americans visit Korean annually, with 120,000 expected to visit the country specifically for the World Cup.
