JAKARTA, Indonesia—After offering free General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) services since last November, Indonesia’s IM3 finally decided to release its GPRS price plan commencing in June.
At first, IM3 decided to wait for other operators’ price plans and services due to a lack of content provision. Because other operators have deferred the launch of GPRS services due to market behavior that rarely uses data services, IM3 set the price plan based on use volume.
In this new pricing plan, IM3 set the price of 0.5 rupees (US$0.0005) for 1 kilobit of data, confirming IM3 to be the country’s first operator launching GPRS price plans.
