PARIS—Alcatel said it was awarded a contract from Kenya’s KenCell for local multipoint distribution service (LMDS) equipment. Alcatel will provide the mobile backhaul for KenCell’s GSM 900 MHz mobile network.
The first phase is up and running and will be followed by a second stage scheduled for completion next June in Mombasa.
KenCell is a joint venture of Vivendi Telecom and Sameer Investments.
