JAKARTA, Indonesia-Indonesia’s slow growth of 2.5-generation (2.5G) services has not inhibited Indonesia’s government to begin preparations for the country’s 3G regulatory framework.
Tulus Rahardjo, the country’s director of frequency arrangement bodies, said the government has taken the first step toward 3G rollout by allocating 1900 MHz spectrum for 3G services.
Indonesia’s Directorate General of Post and Telecommunication said the framework will be ready at the end of this year. Furthermore, he added that licenses will be appointed through an assessment or auction procedure.
He refused to disclose whether existing operators will be allowed to vie for the 3G licenses.
