SCHAUMBURG, Ill.-NexLink Communications Inc. deployed the first Canopy broadband wireless access system from Motorola Inc. in Republic, Mo., the companies announced.
Republic has a population of about 8,500.
Canopy includes an independent community-sized access point with integrated antennas. Each access point has about a two-mile radius. Individual subscriber units are installed on the outside of a home or business.
NexLink is offering several service packages that range from $50 per month for data speeds up to 128 kilobits per second, to $300 per month for businesses seeking speeds of more than 1 megabit per second.
