NEW DELHI, India-Idea Cellular said it will launch its services in the Indian capital next month, taking the total number of GSM players to four.
The company has already invested about 5 billion rupees (US$102.9 million) in the Delhi telecom circle and will invest another 3 billion rupees (US$61.8 million) by the end of the current fiscal year in March 2003, company officials stated here. Idea has been allocated test frequencies, and commercial launch is slated for next month.
Existing players Airtel, Hutch and Dolphin have a combined subscriber base of nearly 1.3 million in Delhi.
