Cyprus to auction GSM license

ATHENS, Greece-Greek Cyprus will end its mobile monopoly held by CyTA this year by auctioning a second GSM license, with the process set to begin in November.

The 20-year licensee will be guaranteed a duopoly for the next five years or until it reaches a 25-percent market share.

Operators who operate in Turkish-controlled North of Cyprus are barred from participating in the auction.
