Lynch to head Motorola’s Personal Communications Sector

SCHAUMBURG, Ill.-Motorola Inc. appointed Tom Lynch executive vice president and president of the company’s Personal Communications Sector. Lynch replaces Mike Zafirovski, who was appointed chief operating officer after Edward Breen left to become chief executive officer of Tyco International Ltd.

PCS is the largest of Motorola’s six major segments with about 18,700 employees worldwide. It develops, manufactures and sells wireless handsets, pagers, two-way radios and accessories.

Lynch previously was the executive vice president and president of Motorola’s Integrated Electronic Systems Sector, which provides electronic systems for telematics, industrial, telecommunications, computing and portable energy system markets.

Prior to that position, Lynch served as the corporate vice president and general manager of satellite and broadcast network systems, part of Motorola’s Broadband Communications Sector.
